Ring pull fashion twists

Local women in Salvador, North East Brazil, are creating designer fashion out of ring pulls in the name of financial independence. It all began when Bottletop director, Oliver Wayman, stumbled upon local women collecting them from discarded cans and sewing them into little, shiny accessories. Creative inspiration struck, and struggling mothers were soon offered a job producing runway-ready bags and belts for overseas markets.

Like a glam, new style of chain-mesh, these accessories hardly look third world. For those who order a piece to brighten their look, they can rest assured the purchase has also brightened the future of a Salvadorean mother. To Bottletop’s credit, craftswomen receive much more than just a steady income out of the deal, they get health care and education too. This is one fashion trend everyone should be following.
