Paper Necklaces

Calendars never looked so pretty

When travelling through East Africa in 2007, the founder of Paper Necklaces met a group of women living with HIV and creating necklaces from discarded calendars. The necklaces were simple, vibrant pieces and, having seen the impact of the project on the lives of the women, the decision to invest in the project seemed a no-brainer.

With a group of 21 HIV positive women now involved in hand-rolling the beads, the initiative aims to remove the stigma of HIV and fight discrimination whilst functioning as an ongoing business. Necklaces come in a variety of colours, with proceeds helping the women to pay for the schooling and care of their families. Beautiful all round.
